MEDFORD, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – The police report from a drug raid in Medford that saw an officer injured by a great dane has been released by the Medford Police Department.
Officer Chad Liske was immediately attacked in the leg by the dog after he identified himself as police and forcefully entered the home, but the dog did not get through his clothing. Liske applied pepper spray to the dog and tried to calm her down while attempting to arrest Anthony Kraemer on drug charges.
Anthony’s brother, Timothy, was in the house at the time and spoke with Newsline 9 about what he experienced.
“The door is flying open, they’re pointing guns in my face. I didn’t know what was going on,” said Timothy. “[The dog]’s protective. They continued to get closer. One of the consistently tried petting her.”
Officer Liske was bitten in the face and was severely injured around the upper lip, requiring several stitches. According to the police report, the dog continued to behave aggressively and was “dispatched” by officers.
Anthony Kraemer has been charged with six felonies and two misdemeanors, including manufacturing and delivering methamphetamine. According to Medford Police Chief Bryan Carey, Officer Liske is now back at work.
