WESTON, WI (WSAU) — CoVantage Credit Union is teaming up with other local businesses to put on a “reality fair” for the students at D.C. Everest High School on Thursday.
Susan Landwehr is the Branch Manager at the Weston Office for CoVantage Credit Union. She says the fair is a unique opportunity for students to get a bit of real life exeperience.
“Students are assigned a family, they’re assigned income, they’re assigned debt. They have to visit approximately 18 tables getting such things as residence, they have to get health insurance, car insurance, they have to buy a car, they have to get phone service,” said Landwehr.
“The United Way is going to be here. We have Trigs Grocery Store from the Weston area going to be here. Greenheck Field House, we have two employees from there also. American Family Insurance will be here. Schofield Insurance, Gowey Abstract, (and) the Humane Society will also be here.”
All of the incomes and families are randomly assigned to the students before the fair starts. Landwehr says this is the third time they’ve done a reality fair with D.C. Everest High School. She is expecting about 150-200 students will participate in the two and a half hour long event.
