WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – A spokesman for the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has revealed more about the death of a Wausau steel worker on Sunday. The worker has been identified as Jeffrey J. Jones, Jr. of Wausau.
According to Scott Allen, an OSHA spokesman in Chicago, the 38-year-old employee of Veritas Steel was unhooking a girder from an overhead crane when the girder fell and toppled, striking him and fatally injuring him. WAOW Newsline 9 reports that Jones worked in the paint department of the factory.
OSHA expects to take about six months to complete their investigation. The organization has a history of levying fines against companies that have an employee injury or fatality that could have been prevented.
