RIB MOUNTAIN, WI (WSAU-WAOW) A man is dead after driving his car into a pond in Rib Mountain. The accident happened around 7pm Sunday night near Lilac Avenue.
A spokesman for the SAFER Fire Department said the vehicle left the road and went into the water. There was no one else in the car. The fire department arrived a short time later with their dive team. Bert Nitzke with SAFER told WAOW-TV, “It’s a small pond, not a lake, but it still has the effects that a large lake does. It was very quick with our response.”
Two good Samaritans helped the man out of the car and tried to revive him using CPR but efforts were unsuccessful.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation. The victim’s name hasn’t been released.
