WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — The prosecution has rested their case against Kristopher Torgerson for the murder of Stephanie Low in 2010.
Wausau Police Lt. William Kolb was the last witness prosecutors called, testifying he interviewed Torgerson several times from 2011 through 2014. The jury then heard some of the recorded interviews, including one from September 2014 when Torgerson says, “I’ll take you to her body.” He would lead authorities to the body in the Nicolet National Forest shortly afterwards.
Torgerson is charged with first-degree intentional homicide and hiding a corpse in Low’s death. His attorney has said that his client should be found guilty of hiding the corpse, but he should not be found guilty of the act of murder. Multiple witnesses testified that Torgerson confessed the murder to them, but a forensics expert said that Torgerson’s DNA was not found on objects at the crime scene.
