STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point head softball coach Ashley Steltenpohl has announced her resignation from the position. She has accepted a position with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
During her 3 seasons at UWSP, Steltenpohl won 41 games, 11 of which were in WIAC action. This year her softball team beat UW-Oshkosh for the first time since 2006. In Steltenpohl’s first 2 seasons as coach, 4 of her players earned All-WIAC honors.
Before coaching the Pointers, Steltenpohl was the head coach at Marian for 4 seasons. She won 59 games there. She played 4 years of softball at UW-Oshkosh before becoming an assistant coach for the Pointers for 1 season and taking the job at Marian.
UW-Stevens Point Athletic Director Brad Duckworth says there will be a national search to find Steltenpohl’s replacement.
