WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — IT gurus at Northcentral Technical College are working to get the campus computer systems back up and running following an attempted cyber attack early this week.
NTC’s marketing and public relations director Kelsi Seubert says the school’s security monitoring first sensed the attempted hack on June 4th.
Campus officials then immediately initiated their cybersecurity response plan, which prompted the canceling of classes on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Seubert says there is no indication at this time that any confidential, personal or financial student or employee data was compromised as part of the incident.
A cyber forensics team has been enlisted to investigate the incident, which may take several days. In the meantime, summer classes are up and running regardless of the mode of delivery. Some classes that do not require technology have continued to run as scheduled.
Seubert says the staff at NTC remains committed to minimizing the impact of this outage on its students as they work diligently to bring information systems back online. She adds that a great network of community agencies, vendors, and educational partners are supporting the College in that effort.
