Marshfield’s 2017 city budget, including a slight property tax increase, was approved Tuesday night by that city’s Common Council.
According to the city’s finance director Keith Strey, “The 2017 adopted budget, excluding Marshfield Utilities, would be set in the amount of $43,790,644, and the tax levy will be $12,601,499 for 2017.”
In regard to the tax amounts, Strey said, “The resulting tax rate will be rounded up to $9.12, which is just short of a 5-cent tax rate increase.” Mayor Chris Meyer further explained, “A 5-cent increase in the mill rate would work out to a $5.00 increase in taxes on a $100,000 home.”
That budget passed by a vote of nine to one, with alderperson Alana Feddick casting the dissenting vote.
