DE PERE, WI (WSAU) The UWSP mens hockey team beat #1 ranked St. Norbert 6-5 Saturday night in De Pere. It was the first win for the Pointers over the Green Knights on the road since 2001. The loss snapped a 22 game unbeaten streak for St. Norbert dating back to last season.
The Pointers scored 3 second period goals to take a 4-1 lead before the Green Knights tied it a 4 in the 3rd period. Joe Kalisz scored the evntual game winner at 12:43 of the 3rd period. Kalisz had two goals in the game. Also scoring was Scott Henegar, Garret Ladd, Kyle Brodie and Logan Lemirande.
Brandon Jaeger had 34 saves for UWSP.
The Pointers return to action on Friday against Augsburg on the road.
St. Norbert upset the 7th ranked UWSP womens hockey team 5-2 on Saturday night. Freshman Ali Biagini scored her 8th goal of the season. freshman Lexi Englund had the other Pointer goal.
Janna Bielke-Skoug had 35 saves in the loss.
The Pointer women will host St. Thomas on Friday night and Saturday afternoon at Ice Hawks Arena.
