ROTHSCHILD, Wis. (WSAU) — A troubled Rothschild bar has a new owner who’s hoping to make the tavern welcoming again.
The former PJ’s Logjam on Business 51 is now Norm’s, and new owner Kenny Klatt says he used to be a regular at the Logjam. “I used to come here a lot after college and hung out with the old owners. It was always a good time, and then it seemed like it went downhill a bit and I want to bring back the good times they used to have in here.” Klatt has worked at the Campus Pub in Wausau for a number of years and bought out the bar after the former owners sold it off.
The bar currently remains under the restrictions put into place on the previous owners after a pair of shootings over the last year. Under those regulations, the bar can’t have a DJ, live entertainment, anything event that requires a cover charge or bouncers at the doors. Klatt says he’s not worried about that and that he’s been in contact with Rothschild Police Chief Jeremy Hunt about those restrictions.
Klatt says he may be hiring soon depending on how busy he gets. “Me and my wife are going to work, primarily bartend, but I’m going to need some help on nights some nights. Fish fry, I’m probably going to get a cook in here that knows what he’s doing better than I do.” He says it will be at least three weeks before a work crew can come in and get the tavern’s kitchen ready for service, but he hopes to serve Friday Fish Fry, and burgers and other bar food for lunch. He’s hoping more service and the friendly atmosphere will bring back some of the clientele he remembers from his time at PJs. “Stop in. It’s a nice clean bar now. It’s friendly, good atmosphere to hang out, watch Packer games, Badger games, and have beers and have a good time.”
Norm’s is open from 11am to close 7 days a week.
