MERRILL, Wis. (WSAU) — A Merrill woman is facing attempted homicide charges after allegedly trying to strangle and suffocate an elderly man last month.
Police say 45-year-old Stacey Hansen attempted to suffocate a 78-year-old man with a plastic bag. Police arrived at the scene on Grand Avenue in Merrill to find the man without a pulse. He was resuscitated on the the way to the hospital by first responders.
The victim told police that Hansen tried to kill him, and that he remembered her sitting on his chest and pinching his nose, but does not remember getting into the ambulance.
Hansen faces multiple charges in the case including attempted homicide, strangulation, abuse of a person at risk and aggravated battery.
She remains in jail on a $100,000 cash bond and will be back in court November 9th for a preliminary hearing.
