WISCONSIN RAPIDS,Wis. (WSAU) — A Necedah man accused of causing the death of an Amish man while driving drunk is in jail in Wood County.
31-year-old Seth Nelson was released Monday on a $5,000 cash bond on suspicion of homicide by drunken driving. Deputies say Nelson drove his pickup into the back of a horse drawn wagon Friday night on Highway HH north of Vesper.
31-year-old Christian Kempf was thrown from the wagon along with his 10-year-old son. Both were rushed to St Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield where Kempf later died of his injuries. His son is still in critical condition.
Court documents show that a preliminary breath test at the time of the crash indicated that Nelson had a .11 blood alcohol content.
The case remains under investigation. Formal charges are expected to be filed next week.
