STEVENS POINT, Wis. (WSAU) — The man recently appointed to the bench will try to stay there by running for the office.
Robert Shannon was appointed to the Portage County Branch II Circuit Court bench this past summer. Yesterday, Shannon made it official he would like to stay there. Shannon declared his candidacy for the seat.
This will be Judge Shannon’s first election, and he already has a large field of opponents. Attorney Jared Redfield, Assistant District Attorney David Knappen, and Clerk of Courts Patricia Baker have all entered the race. With four on the ballot, and still time to file papers, a primary on February 16th is likely. The general election is Tuesday, April 12th.
