EVERYTHING EVERGREENS (FOX SPORTS WAUSAU-WSAU) – After a wild, sloppy Saturday afternoon of baseball in Oshkosh, there are two good things worth mentioning.
Bryce Behrens continues to swing the hottest bat I've ever seen in high school baseball. He was a combined 5-for-7 in the two games against Oshkosh-North, raising his batting average to .524. Until Bryce, Mike Plaza ('15) was the best pure high school hitter I'd seen in the DC Everest baseball program. But Plaza was flirting with a .400 average by this late in his senior year. Behrens' average continues to rise, even in the later stages of the season.
Jordan Steinagel was also a bright spot. He was ineligible to play in April, and, since he's a senior it would have been easy to simply walk away from the final weeks of the baseball season. He didn't. He pitched well in the second game of the doubleheader with a lively fast-ball and a hard-breaking cutter that he consistently threw for strikes. Jordan will make a contribution to the team down the stretch. He throws hard enough that he could be used as a closer, or could be a spot-starter.
The rest of Saturday was ugly — a 21-17 loss in game one, and a 12-7 loss in game two. Everest's defense was shoddy. They were in the field for only 12 innings and committed 14 errors.

There's no shame for the DC Everest girls soccer team losing to Eau Claire Memorial, 1-0, on Friday. The Evergreens play one of the toughest schedules in the state, and they lost to an undefeated team. They bounced back with a 5-3 win over Hudson on Saturday.
