I'll be making another check-mark off the bucket list this coming week. I'm fortunate enough to join 3 old friends on an excursion to the birthplace of golf. We'll be taking our less than stellar games to Scotland to play some of the worlds oldest courses and celebrate our 60th birthdays a bit early. Myles Kyler, Brian Smith, John Trucco and I have been playing golf for decades and it should be another memorable adventure to add to the list of stories that we continue to re-tell over the years. Although I am not a scotch drinker I would imagine I will have to partake from one of the many distilleries that dot the Scottish landscape. And of course, sample the national dish of the country, Haggis! Before you say you would never eat the concoction which is the heart, lung and liver of a sheep diced up, mixed with onions, oatmeal and spices and baked inside a sheeps intestine….you do enjoy a hot dog right? We are staying in the village of St. Andrews which features some of the greatest links golf courses in the world and also the beach where they filmed the opening sequence to the movie 'Chariots Of Fire”…looking forward to re-creating that if we can drag ourselves out of bed at dawn. Hopefully we will not create an international incident with our crappy golf games and and I look forward to sharing the stories and pictures when I return on August 16th.
The college football coaches poll is out and the Badgers face a tough road. They will play five teams in the Top 15. The open with LSU on Sept 3rd at Lambeau. They will also play 5th ranked Ohio State, 8th ranked Michigan, 11th ranked Michigan State and #15 Iowa.
Brett Hundley has to be disappointed. He's nursing an ankle injury and may not play on Sunday night when the Packers play Indy in Canton Ohio. This is his regular season and he needs the reps just in case something happens to Arod during the real games.
I'll be watching the Olympics while traveling this week. I sort of like the idea (idealistic as it is) that this gathering can take our minds off the crappy state of the world these days…at least for a little while.
Just a reminder that I will be doing an air-shift on WWSP 90FM this afternoon from 1-4. You can also listen on-line at
