Kirk Nieuwenhuis singled in two in the first and Chris Carter cracked a solo homer in the third.
Jimmy Nelson went six innings for his seventh win. Tyler Thornburg earned his fifth save.
David Dahl had two hits and scored both runs for the Rockies. Chad Bettis fell to 10-and-7 after allowing three earned runs and issuing seven walks during his five-inning start.
The two teams play again tonight with the pre game show beginning at 6:35 pm.
