BOULDER JUNCTION, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – One person was killed Tuesday when a van traveled through an intersection and struck a semi-truck in Boulder Junction.
Vilas County Sheriff Joe Fath says the crash happened about 3:30pm at the intersection of Highway 51 and County Highway H near Eagle River. It blocked both lanes of the highway, forcing traffic to be detoured.
Authorities said the van failed to stop at the stop sign on County Highway H and hit the semi. The victim was a passenger in the van who was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the van survived and is hospitalized. The driver’s name and condition have not been released.
The truck driver was not hurt.
The crash is under investigation.
