A group of parents in Madison are criticizing a team of young girls soccer players for wearing their hair short. Some on the team have been wearing their hair short for years…some more recently to emulate one of their soccer heroes (Abby Wambach). They have been ridiculed, forced to produce their birth certificates at tournaments to prove they are girls, and other inappropriate behavior. I know there are alot of ignorant pople in the world…social media is full of these morons. But I fail to see what they expect to accomplish by this. Do they think that wearing their hair short is somehow going to turn them gay? When men wore long hair in the 60's and 70's they heard alot of the same crap…but these are pre-teen girls for crying out loud. It may be better for you to out yourselves as bigots and idiots and it seems these girls have banded together to face the crapola that these so-called adults are heaping on them. We talk alot about battling bullying between kids…how bout when the bullying is being done by the grown-ups?
Had a great time with my old college radio buds in Stevens Point this weekend. Chris Shebel and Jerry Gavin & Scotty Krueger were the guys who turned WWSP 90fm into a solid, popular and great sounding AOR station in the ealry 70'sthat also trained a generation of radio junkies to go out into the media world. Gene Mueller parlayed that training into a long, award-winning career in Milwaukee that continues to this day. Was great catching up with them all including Jim Maher, Gary Polum and all the rest. Thanks to Jim Oliva and Fred Brennan for keeping this tradition going.
It looks like Wisconsin football fans should be in heaven this fall…both the Packers and Badgers look to be very good. Now about that Packer kicking game!?1?
A tough start for the Wausau National Little League All-Stars as they opened play in Indianapolis with a 22-4 loss to an Ohio team. They play again tomorrow.
Elections have consequences…..The Trump administration is trying to repeal Obama era rules put in place to allow nursing home residents and their families to take facilities to court over alleged abuse, neglect or sexual assault. Public comments aon that plan are due by today. It's almost as if the Republican Party and this President go out of their way to find issues that are going to piss off the most people….Gregg Jarret, one of the talking heads on Fox asked last Wednesday why a grand jury hadnt been impaneled to look at Hilary Clinton's handing of classified information. One day later he called grand juries “undemocratic farces” when one was empaneled to look into Russian interference in our election process and what part the Trump campaign played in it…..speaking of Fox, another of their rude, crude talking heads (Eric Bolling) has been suspended for allegedly sending lewd photos to female co-workers. It might be easier to keep track of which of the jackasses at Fox can keep their private parts private and which can't….The Trump administration is trumpeting the new jobs numbers which showed 179,000 jobs created since election day..which is fine except for the part they leave out…that 199,000 jobs were created in the last 9 months of the Obama administration and Trump called those numbers bad. What Trump knows is that many of his followers won't pay attention or remember any of his lies, misinformation and bs…it's all he can count on at this point.
