WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — Citizen Action of Wisconsin held a press event near the riverfront developments in Wausau on Monday afternoon to discuss why they believe Foxconn and the $3 billion incentive package the state is considering giving them is a bad deal for Wisconsin.
Robert Kraig, Executive Director for Citizen Action of Wisconsin, says he questions the $3 billion amount because he says the Walker Administration continues to claim that there isn’t enough money to go around.
“That’s why there have been devastating cuts to the UW-System, to the technical colleges, to our K-12 System, unnecessary cuts to healthcare, which is a huge industry here in North Central Wisconsin,” said Kraig.
Kraig says he believes there are much better things the state could spend $3 billion on.
He said, “We could spend it in a way that opportunity here in North Central Wisconsin and across the state if we invested in education, we invest it in healthcare, and we invest it in renewable energy and energy efficiency.”
Currently, the $3 billion incentive package has been approved by the State Assembly and will soon be discussed in the Senate.
