The Green Bay Packers were set up for a special season. Mike McCarthy said it was one of the best training camps he's ever had. The team had made improvements at various positions especially on defense. They had added two veteran tight ends to Aaaron Rodgers arsenal and seemed primed to be a team that would be tough to beat. One thing that all the preparation in the world cannot beat…is injuries. And the Packers are now a wounded team. After only two weeks the list of the walking wounded is a long one. Jordy Nelson, Randall Cobb, Mike Daniels, Bryan Bulaga, David Baktihari, and on and on. McCarthy said last night he has no update on any of the injuries. I believe that is a smokesreen. He knows. That should tell you that at least some of them are serious. We get the official injury report on Wednesday. One postitive, at least this week, is that the Packers play the hapless Bengals and Bears on back to back weeks. They should be able to beat Cincy & Chicago with Aaron Rodgers and the Morman Tabernacle Choir suiting up. But if some of these injuries linger or more pile on, it could get ugly. Every Super Bowl team has to be good…but also lucky…lucky to avoid the key injuries that have jumped up to bite the Packers so far this season.
Clayton Kershaw had never given up a grand slam…until last night. Phillie Aaron Altherr hit it and what's even weirder is the young player had another grand slam earlier this year…and inside the park job vs Washington. Kershaw gave up more runs to Philly with that swing than he did the entire rest of the season. The stat guys also dug out that Hall-Of-Famer Jim Palmer never gave up a granny in his entire career. Baseball is a funny game.
Former Milwaukee Buck Andrew Bogut has signed a one year contract with the LA Lakers.
Badger QB Alex Hornibrook was named Big Ten Offensive Player of The Week.
Someone broke into Brewer catcher Stephen Vogt's house and stole a bunch of autographed memorabilia. He tweeted yesterday that much of it was signed “To Stephen Vogt” so it should be able to be traced eventually. If you collect this stuff, keep your eyes open.
One of the problems with the right wing squawk machine, tone deaf cluelessness….Sean Hannity booked Bill O'Reilly on his show. O'Reilly bragged how he's going to launch a revenge campaign against the women who spoke out about his serial sexual harrassment. Hannity was thrilled with the idea. These guys are turds in the punch bowl of life and if you support any of this stuff…shame on you. The Today Show is booking O'Reilly too…shame on them as well.
Elections have consequences…Trump says he's considering holding a military parade on Pennsylvania Ave. on the 4th of July. Jeezus, he really is crazy. He got the idea from watching the French Bastille Day parade. You know who also likes parades like that?…..After watching the legitimate press trot out Steve Bannon for a 60 Minutes Interview, Stephen Colbert welcome Scaramucci to his show and now Spicer on the Emmys, it's becoming clear that some would like to normalize the behaviors of these and others in the Trump administration. The news shows continue to book KellyAnne Conway although she hasnt contributed anything but bs and propaganda for months. We cannot allow the behavior of these people to be normalized. They signed on to the Trump train and now their reputations are shredded. So be it. They made their choice…..Former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort is reportedly going to be indicted by the Mueller special investigation. He's being investigated for foreign lobbying and money laundering. There is also a report that he was wiretapped, which included conversations with Trump.
