WAUASU, WI (WSAU) — The Woodson YMCA is looking to expand after purchasing three surrounding properties from their downtown Wausau location.
Bryan Bailey is the CEO of the Woodson YMCA. He explains where exactly the recently purchased properties are located.
He said, “Kitty-corner from our current parking lot on the corner of Third and McIndoe Street. Actually the properties connect to an area that we already have existing parking so this would be able to open that up and be an extension of some current parking that we have.”
Bailey says the move was done to help with parking issues at the downtown location.
“If you can’t get a place to park you’re not going to come and work on a healthy lifestyle or on creating relationships or, in some cases, dropping your kids off for infant care or any type of youth program,” said Bailey.
Bailey also says the YMCA would eventually like to continue to expand it’s gymnastics program, senior services, and infant care services.
The Woodson YMCA is hoping to add around 100 new parking spaces because of the property acquisition.
