Congrats to the latest class of baseball Hall-Of-Famers. There
is a a lot of discussion these days on what makes a HOF player but almost
everyone agrees that Chipper Jones and Jim Thome deserve the honor. I would
have voted for Guerrero and Hoffman too. It’s hard to believe that Vlad
Guerrero is the first non-pitcher from the Dominican Republic to make the Hall
of Fame. Also, now that he is in, Larry Walker should be next. Many of the
statheads say closers shouldn’t be in the Hall because the save stat is meaningless.
I say, any pitcher who does his job as long and as well as Trevor Hoffman,
while also being a universally loved stand-up guy, should be recognized and enough
voters agreed. One again there were a number of snubs…Edgar Martinez (who
played some minor league ball in Wausau) falls short as some voters don’t
believe that a mainly DH should get in. The steroid guys continue to struggle
and Curt Schilling (who’s play on the field should be enough to get in) won’t make
it because he’s such an asshole off the field. I know that shouldn’t matter (Ty
Cobb and others were racist pricks too) but for some it does. There would probably
be more guys in this year if not for the antiquated rule where voters can only
vote for 10 players on each ballot.
Hoffman becomes the sixth man to play for the Brewers who
are in the Hall. Can you name the other five? Answer at the bottom
Also it was Brewer manager Craig Counsell at shortstop and
recorded the final out when Hoffman got his 600
th
save at Miller
Park in 2010.
Milwaukee Bucks guard Malcolm Brogdon will play for the US
team vs the World in the Rising Stars challenge game Feb 16

It pits the best 1

Elton John is announcing his farewell tour in 2019. He says
his health is not up to touring anymore and he wants to spend more time with
his sons. He will make a stop at the new Bucks arena in Milwaukee as part of
the tour. I’ve never seen John live…maybe it’s time.
TV news…everything old is new again. CBS is reviving Murphy
Brown with Candice Bergen taking on the role again. It will be interesting to
see if they can re-capture the chemistry of the original cast. Also, the most
nominated actress in Oscar history is coming to television. Meryl Streep will
join the star-studded cast of Big Little Lies on HBO. Has anybody watched that?
Is it worth a look?
You’ve all heard of dog and cat shows…but how about a camel
beauty contest? It happens in Saudi Arabia and there is controversy this year. Camels
are judged on the shape of their lips, the size of their humps and the shape of
the bridge of their nose.It seems that some breeders have been disqualified for
injecting their camels with Botox. This event draws 30,000 entries and has
prize money up to $57 million dollars. It starts Feb 1
st
according to
Travel and Leisure magazine if youre interested in going…and includes camel
races, camel hair art, sand art and more. You can’t make this stuff up.
Elections have consequences….Trump said yesterday he’s
willing to be interviwed by special counsel Robert Mueller under oath. His
lawyers immediately said no way, that’s not what he meant. It’s easy to figure
why. His lawyers know if that happens it wouldn’t take long for him to either
implicate himself or perjure himself. It will be interesting to see if he
overrules his lawyers because A-he thinks he’s smarter than Mueller or B-he
truly thinks he didn’t do anything illegal………………………..It’s clear by Scott Walker’s
comments this week and his State Of The State address yesterday that it’s an
election year. It will be interesting to see if his ability to buy off voters
with stuff that he would never support in a non-election year allows him to win
another term………….
Quotes Of The Day
“ There’s lots of talk these days on the American right
about “silent coups”, “secret societies” and the “deep state”. This kind of
thing used to be confined to the fever swamps; now its been mainstreamed. It’s
destructive on many levels, and loopy”-Peter Wehner
“I’ve played with a lot of great teammates but when asked
who was most instrumental in teaching me how to be a pro, who best understood
his place in the game, and who respected all, I always answer the same way.
Congrats Trevor Hoffman”-Craig Breslow
“Wait, so Hillary Clinton made thousands of FBI e-mails
disappear because she controls SamsungMobile and also all cellphones, because she’s
obviously part of the Illuminati and working with the famous Goldman-Sachs

“Four years ago, accusations of plagiarism tanked Mary Burke’s

survivor-centric compassion of Judge Aquilina, there is much to be inspired by
in the case against Larry Nassar. Primarily, the impact of voices being heard
and of justice prevailing”-Mariska Hargitay
“Sickens me that Larry Nassar was allowed to do what he did
for as long as he did by people in power. Also sickening: hurrahs from the
powerless when people in power vilify the mainstream media. The media’s power
plus a few powerless brave souls got it done when no one else dared”-Ric Bucher
“American gymnastics is no longer a sport. It’s a conspiracy
of pedophiles and their enablers. And every coward who enabled serial abuser
Larry Nassar dererves to pay.”-Charles P. Pierce

These anti-democratic tactics are launched the same day the independent counsel

“What is clear is that this President believes that the FBI
and DOJ are wholly-owned subsidiaries of Trump, there to protect his interests,
not the country’s. He’s dangerously wrong”-David Axelrod
“Allow me to reiterate: There is NO WAY Obama could have 1)
had an affair with a porn star 2) while Michelle was pregnant 3) paid her $130K
to keep it on the low 4) and STILL have religious folks defending him! There
would have been a mob at the White House demanding for his removal”- Charles M.
Blow

mankind”-Albert Einstein
