MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — Former major leaguer and Brewers broadcaster Davy Nelson has died at the age of 73 after battling a long illness.
Nelson played 10 years in the majors from 1968-77 with Cleveland, Washington (later Texas) and Kansas City. He was an All-Star in 1973 .
He joined the Brewers as a minor league instructor in 2001 and became first base coach in 2003. He had coached earlier with the White Sox, A’s, Expos and Cleveland.
He later became a tv analyst for the team on Fox Sports Wisconsin and worked for the team in Alumni Relations
