STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — The UWSP basball team bounced back from losing four conference games last week by weeping four games from Illinois Tech on Saturday and Sunday.
The Pointers hit five homers on Saturday winning the games 11-2 and 5-2. Freshmen Payton Nelson and Aaron Simmons hit their first career homers. Ryan Syanicek hit two round-trippers and Neal Matosn added a pinch hit blast.
Tommy Duddleston had four hits on the day and Kyle Mrozinski had three hits.
Ben Miller and Tristan Brewer picked up the wins on the mound.
On Sunday the Pointers won 3-0 and 3-1. Cole Erickson and Nathan Mulzer picked up the wins.
Stanicek had a rbi double and a home run in Game 2.
The Pointers, now 22-8, will head to Mequon to face Concordia in a doubleheader on Tuesday.
The UWSP softball team won 1 of four games over the weekend. They dropped a pair with Stout on Saturday 11-0 and 5-2 and split with River Falls on Saturday winning game 1 5-3 to end a 15 game losing streak and then dropping the nightcap 7-5.
Lauren Luedtke had five hits on Sunday.
