A story in Time Magazine this week may give you pause. A woman in Nebraska got a surprising diagnosis on a persistent runny nose that had plagued her for years. 52 year old Kendra Jackson had been told that her constant runny nose was caused by allergies or congestion from the common cold. Doctors tried every remdy they could think of but nothing worked…the nose kept running. Then this spring a physician assistant figured out that the constant runny nose was caused by a leak in her brain. It seems that after she was in a car accident and hit her head on the dashboard, a weakened part of her skull developed a leak and cerebrospinal fluid, the stuff that surrounds the brain and spinal cord was leaking out through her nose. She reportedly was losing as much as a half liter a day. Doctors have now repaired th hole with surgeryand her nose has finally stopped running. The PA who discovered the problem suggests that persistance in the face of a recurring medical problem is key. Find a doctor that you can have agood relationship with but never be afraid to get a second opinion.
Another 1-2-3 inning for Jeremy Jeffress last night. Going into the game Jeffress was unscored upon in 18 of his 19 games this season, posting a 0.45 ERA. Opponents are batting just .138 against him and he hasnt allowed a run in 16 straight appearances. The Brewers bullpen actually got stronger yesterday with the return of Corey Knebel and Boone Logan. Definetly the strength of this team.
Fox has cancelled the show “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”. I didn't get into it but I'm told its well-written and funny. It's cancellation led to the question being asked yesterday which shows were cancelled too soon in your opinion. For me the # 1 will always be Deadwood…but a couple of other lesser known entries spring to mind…”Rubicon, the story of a intelligence consulting firm tracking terrorists and government conspiraces…and “Southland” a great cop show set in LA. Gone too soon.
Elections have consequences……..The Leah Vukmir campaign should be ashamed of itself. It released a campaign news release this week labeling Tammy Baldwin as a member of “Team Terrorist” and included her photo next to a picture of Khalid Sheikh Mohammed. Even conservative group “Right Wisconsin” criticized the image. Add this to what we heard in Washington this week. Things like a White House staffer dismissing John McCain's criticism of CIA nominee Gina Haspel by saying “Who cares, he's dying anyway” Her name is Kelly Sadler and Chief of Staff John Kelly shows his gutless cowardice by continuing to employ her. But then why should we be surprised. Despite his claim to surround himself with “the best people” the Trump administration is riddled with synchophants, con-men and unqualified hacks in every department. And Republicans in Congress refuse to reign them in…and Vukmir would be just another bobble-head propping up this corrupt regime…..and if you think Mike Pence is going to be any better, read conservative commentator George Will's scathing piece on the VP in yesterdays Washington Post. Pence has been described by Republican political strategist Steve Schmidt as a “monumental fraud”. I think most open-minded people can see something isn't quite right with the vice-president.

“A few reasons people call the cops on black people: waiting in Starbucks, napping in Yale dorm, renting an AirBnB, golfing at Grandview Golf Club, shopping at Nordstrom Rack, buying a belt at Barneys, bb gun shopping at Wal-Mart, wearing a hoodie in the rain.”-Keith Boykin
