UNDATED (WSAU-WXPR) – A major area employer has been sold to a Scandanavian firm.Expera Specialty Solutions, which owns paper mills in Rhinelander, Mosinee, Kaukauna and DePere is being bought by Ahlstrom-Munksjo of Finland. The deal is reported to be worth $615-million.
A statement from the new company said they expect to retain most of their current employees, about 1,800 people in Wisconsin.
Expera is a specialty paper products manufacturer of industrial and technical paper, food packaging and and pressure-sensitive release liners. Expera’s CEO Russ Wanke said since the formation of Expera in 2013 from the former Thilmany Papers and Wausau Paper they have been committed to core strategic imperatives related to their people and customers.
The transaction is expected to be finalized in late 2018.
