CRANDON, WI (WSAU) — Another Wisconsin county has decided to add a vote on medical marijuana to their November ballot.
The Forest County Board voted 16 to 4 on Tuesday night to add a referendum question about legalizing medical marijuana to their general election ballot. The referendum helps lawmakers in Madison know what action constituents want taken on the issue.
Several members of the public came to the meeting to show their support for legalization, sharing stories about how medical marijuana can positively impact lives.
There are board members that have concerns like District Supervisor Jill Kettlewell who says, “I’m really worried about drug abuse already in our area, and in many areas of the state.”
The list for medical marijuana referendums is growing steadily in Wisconsin as Forest County joins Portage County and Marathon County in having such a question on their November ballots. Medical marijuana is already legalized in 30 states, including Michigan and Minnesota.
