The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame gets alot of criticism and rightly so. Who's in and who's not seems to rile alot of people up every year. Some say that the Hall honor folks who really aren't “rock n roll”. Who cares! The labeling of music, and I'm as guilty as the next person, is a hopeless circle jerk anyway. By its very nature, the American hybrid that we call “rock” is an undefineable conglomoration of everything that came before it. Blues, Country, Folk, Jazz, Classical (listen to some of the Beatles stuff and tell me thats not “classical” music) its all there. So when you tell me that so & so doesnt belong in a “Rock” Hall of Fame…I say “who says”. There will always be somebodys favorites that get overlooked every year. My pet peeves continue to be Warren Zevon and the Doobie Brothers. It would seem to be that they both have earned spots in rocks pantheon…and yet, not even nominated again this year. So here we go…this years nominations for the Hall are:
Def Leppard, Stevie Nicks, The Zombies, MC5, Roxy Music, Devo, Todd Rundgren, Janet Jackson, John Prine, Rufus, LL Cool J, Kraftwerk, The Cure, Rage Against The Machine and Radiohead.
I'll admit that I havent listened to enough LL Cool J, Radiohead, Rage, or The Cure to make a determination if they are worthy. Out of the rest….I would vote for the following
At first glance you would say that these tunes have nothing in common. And I know some of you are cringing right now at my suggestion that Prine or Rufus should be added to a “rock” HOF. I would suggest you widen your horizons and realize that Rock wields a big umbrella…labels are for chumps…and music will always be a personal thing so nobody cares what you or I or anybody else thinks anyway.
Robert Mays with a pretty scathing article on Mike McCarthy and the Packers on The Ringer website this week.

We are down to the final four in major league baseball. Houston, Boston, LA Dodgers and Milwaukee. Who predicted that?
It was this date in 1966 when the game Twister appeared for the first time. I would imagine it was under alot of Christmas trees that year.
The Trailer is out for Season 2 of American Gods! Season one was fantastic and now they may have to add on to Neil Gaiman's novel but I'm looking forward to what they come up with. Have you read the book? It's pretty cool and one of the key scenes is set at The House On The Rock in Wisconsin.
Things to annoy you today:
The Trump Adminstration has planned computer maitenance downtime for healthcare.gov during Affordable Health Care signup period. The pettiness of this administration knows no limits. The ACA is popular no matter what the GOP tells you and if they had not gone out of their way to sabotage it at every turn, costs would be down even more than they are. So remember, when you see an ad or hear some Republican Congressional hack claim that the ACA doesnt work… it's just another in their long string of lies.
Of course, we all know by now that Republicans have to gerry-mander and suppress the vote if they are going to win elections, and its happening again in Texas. As Kurt Eichenwald reports, GOP officials have decided–with no legal support– to not allow electronic signatures for voter registration . They are throwing out 1000's of registrations, largely from young people. As Eichenwald puts it “I sold my house with an electronic signature. I sign my taxes and corporate contracts that way too.” Just remember this if Ted Cruz ekes out a victory over Beto O'Rourke in the US Senate race.
The odius Tucker Carlson….really, how does this racist white supremacist asshole have a prime time show and who are the people watching it?….compared Democrats this week to the genocidal Hutu of Rwanda.
Rand Paul said that he worries “someone is going to be killed” in the current political climate. Someone should remind him of Heather Heyer.
As investigative reporter David Sirota wrote this week “The United Nations climate panel has issued a report basically warning that the end of the world is in 22 years—and this report will almost certainly be completely ignored by most of the TV media, most of the population and the entire political class.” As usual, Aaron Sorkin covered this better years ago than the current news media will now.
