As noted by radio talker Bill Michaels, the Brewers are 5-9 in their last 14 games. They have given up 60 runs in those 9 losses. This time last year the Brewers were 5th in team ERA, 6th in WHIP. Today they are 24th in ERA and 20th in WHIP. The question is, how long does the team go on with the young starting pitcher experiment. We thought there would be questions coming out of spring training but deferred to David Stearns and Craig Counsell when they said that they believed that the youngsters could do the job. It's not happening. And the bullpen has been no bargain either. With the loss of Knebel and Jeffress and the sudden human-ness of Josh Hader, game are getting away quickly in the later innings as well. I know Jimmy Nelson is going to be back and Jeffress as well…but do you really think that is enough? This could quickly turn into one of those What If? seasons if something isnt done quickly. I don't think it's pushing the panic button if they seriously consider bringing in Dallas Keuchel, Gio Gonzales or even Craig Kimbrel. It would be shame if a season of this offense is wasted because the pitching was never upgraded. Every week you wait it gets harder to justify.
The Milwaukee Bucks have won a post season series for the first time since 2001! What was that year like? Ray Allen and Glenn Robinson were the stars of a team that also featured Sam Cassell, Tim Thomas, and rookies Michael Redd and Joel Pryzbilla. It was the year of 9-11, shoe bomber Richard Reid and the anthrax scare. Dale Earnhardt died in a crash at Daytona and Wikipedia went online for the first time. The top films included A Beautiful Mind, Shrek and Harry Potter & The Philosophers Stone. We were listening to Alicia Keys, Missy Elliot, Dido, Weezer and Creed. We were watching Boston Public, Malcolm in The Middle, Dharma & Greg & The Sopranos. Yeah, it was a long time ago.
Milwaukee will now face a very good Boston Celtic team that under-achieved in the regular season but has been playing really well lately. Tough series coming…should be fun!
I'll have high school baseball tonight as the Wausau East Lumberjacks travel to Stevens Point to face the Spash Panthers. It will live on Foxsports Radio AM1390 & FM 93.9 at 4:30 pm.
I became an Amazon Prime Member five years ago for one reason. To watch Bosch. Everything else was a bonus. And the show continues to be one of the best things going right now. Season Five is now available.
Watched episode #2 of the last season of Game of Thrones yesterday. It was weirdly sentimental. That should change this week as the battle begins. It is being said that this episode will feature the largest battle scene ever to appear on the small screen. Methinks that many of our favorite characters will see their end.
Quotes Of The Day

“Folks, the collusion is happening in plain sight, as we speak, in denying that the actions taken by the campaign were wrong, unethical, immoral and un-American. Unless Trump acknowledges that Russia interfered in our election, he's giving the thumbs up for them to do it again.”-Asha Rangappa
“Finishing a second read through of the Mueller Report. i don't say this lightly, as a life-long Republican, former Republican congressional staffer, and someon who has worked on every Republican campaign and pre-transition team for the last ten years. There is enough here to begin impeachment proceedings.”-J.W. Verret
“Whatever Donald Trump is paying Rudy Giuliani is not enough to compensate him for the complete and utter sacrifice of integrity and credibility required to defend the indefensible.”-David Axelrod
“One problem is that Sarah Sanders lies to the press and the public. A bigger problem is that her boss lies to the press and the public. The fish rots from the head here.”-Ezra Klein
“You need 50 Susan Collinses and 100 Mitt Romneys to equal one single vertebra on Elizabeth Warren's steel spine.”-Adam Best
“Out of the primary field, Elizabeth Warren is teaching a master class in leadership”-Matt McDermott
“I'm not endorsing a candidate yet because it's too early. But, Elizabeth Warren keeps impressing me with her moral clarity, practical plans, and willingness to tackle corruption head on.”-Sarah Kendzior
“Now we know why the pre-spin was so important for Trump World….the report is frankly, devastating: its narrative exposes a cascade of lies, coverups and corruption.”-Charlie Sykes (former right wing radio talk show host)
“I've had a lot of great lawyers, like Roy Cohn. He did not take notes.”-Donald Trump
“It really doesnt get enough attention that Trump's model for a good lawyer is one of the most loathsome figures in both American legal and political history.”-Matthew Miller
Songs of The Day
Rain Falls on Amsterdam-Eric Andersen….a song I wasnt familiar with until I heard him sing it on Saturday night. He wrote it after the fall of the Berlin Wall and the rise of skinhead violence and white nationalism in Europe where he lives
Wild Horses-Rolling Stones (1971) this is the date when Sticky Fingers was released in 1971 which was the first LP that didnt have Brian Jones and did have Mick Taylor. It included this excellent ballad.
