DODGEVILLE, WI (WSAU) Charges have been filed against two adults in the death of a 13-year-old girl in Iowa County from a year ago.
Laurie Barry, 50, and Alexis Barry, 27, are charged with first-degree reckless homicide in the death of Selah Kaden.
The victim was a child adopted from China by a North Carolina couple. She was staying with the Barry family in Mineral Point because of a medical problem involving one of the family’s other children. The arrangement wasn’t approved by social workers or any government entity.
Selah was found dead on May 31, 2018.
A news release from the Iowa County Sheriff’s Department does not provide any details on the child’s death. It does say there was extensive “gathering, cataloging and testing a substantial amount of evidence.”
The suspects will make an initial court appearance on July 9.
