TOWN OF CRESCENT, WI (WSAU) — A three-vehicle crash shut down a portion of Highway 8 near North Rifle road in Oneida County on Thursday.
Sheriff’s officials say a 2001 Crown Victoria, 2018 Volvo, and 2013 Chevrolet were involved in the incident.
Details of what caused the crash were not released, but according to Sheriff’s officials, at least five people sustained injuries in the incident. The driver of the Crown Victoria was transferred to the Rhinelander airport and flown to Aspirus Wausau. Two passengers were transported to St. Mary’s hospital, one was flown on to another hospital by helicopter.
The drivers of the other vehicles were taken to St. Mary’s hospital. It’s unclear if there were any passengers involved in those vehicles.
The Oneida County Sheriff’s office is completing the accident report and officials from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation are reconstructing the crash. The accident remains under investigation.
