BOULDER JUNCTION, WI (WSAU) — A popular bar in Vilas County is a total loss following a car crashing into the building.
According to a press release from the Vilas County Sheriff’s Office, early Saturday morning a car struck a power pole at Gooch’s A-One. When the vehicle crashed into the pole it caught on fire. By the time emergency responders arrived at the scene, the fire had spread to the bar.
Twenty area fire departments helped respond to the blaze, but the building has been declared a total loss. The driver of the car has been taken into custody and alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. No injuries have been reported from the incident as the business was closed at the time of the crash.
The departments involved in responding to the fire include, the Vilas County Sheriff’s Office, Boulder Junction Fire Department and EMS, Manitowish Waters Fire Department and EMS, Winchester Fire Department and EMS, Presque Isle Fire Department, Arbor Vitae Fire Department, Plum Lake Fire Department, St Germain Fire Department, Land O Lakes Fire Department, Eagle River Fire Department, Lac Du Flambeau Fire Department and surrounding departments, including some from Michigan.
The incident is under investigation and no further details are being released at this time.
