MILWAUKEE, WI (WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers will extend the netting farther down both baselines to protect fans in the lower bowl area.
Many teams have begun doing this as the number of serious injuries from foul balls continues to rise. The Brewers say that the will extend the netting 105 feet on the first base side and 145 feet on the 3rd base side.
Many Brewer players say its the smart and safe thing to do. Eric Thames say he has seen many line drives enter the stands in those areas. Mike Moustakas said that “You never want someone to get hurt at a baseball game”.
The new netting will be in place before the start of the 2020 season.
