IRMA, WI (WSAU) — Two men were arrested for OWI charges after a Sunday morning stop near Irma.
Lincoln County Sheriff’s Officials say an officer pulled over to check on to men who had pulled their motorcycles off to the side of the road. After observing signs of impairment, the officer put both men through a field sobriety test, which they failed.
A 46-year-old Manitowoc County man was then cited for his first OWI, while a 44-year-old Calumet County man is now facing a felony charge for his 5th OWI.
Both men are also facing charges for violating the terms of their parole.
Officers say the arrest was not related to last weekend’s Fall Ride for MDA event held in Tomahawk. Sheriffs officials did put in extra hours this weekend as part of a state grant to promote traffic safety in Lincoln County, which resulted in over 200 traffic stops.
Officers reported no major incidents related to the Fall Ride, and no motorcycles were involved in any crashes.
