WHITING, WI (WSAU) — Those who take Business 51 in Whiting as part of their morning commute will need to note a detour beginning on Tuesday.
The highway will be closed between County Highway HH and Minnesota Avenue until next Monday.
Officials are continuing to rework the bridge deck in the area, and say the closure is necessary for the safety of the workers. Additionally, the stress of added traffic during this stage of the reconstruction could cause cracking.
During the closure, traffic will be re-routed along County Road HH and Nebel Street. Pedestrian traffic will be able to use the sidewalks on the east side of Business 51 during the closure.
Access to the boat landing will be permitted from the north side of McDill Pond.
