WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — A Wausau man who took a plea deal in connection with a near-fatal stabbing incident in 2017 was sentenced on Wednesday.
Aidan Dobbe will serve 11 years for felony counts of aggravated battery with the intent to cause great bodily harm and aggravated battery by use of a dangerous weapon including six years of incarceration and five years of extended supervision.
Dobbe was given credit for 815 days already served, or about two years and three months. Both counts will run concurrently.
Conditions of his extended supervision will include absolute sobriety from drugs and alcohol and a restraining order against the victim. Dobbe will also have to pay a restitution amount that is to be determined and submit a DNA sample.
Once released, Dobbe must also make an effort to find a full-time job or enroll in school. If neither of those conditions can be filled, he must perform 9 hours per week of community service.
Dobbe was accused of stabbing a former roommate after a verbal altercation outside a downtown Wausau bar. Witnesses say the incident became physical and after the two men ran off into a dark alley the victim came out bleeding from his chest.
He required emergency surgery and blood transfusions but survived the attack.
