WISCONSIN RAPIDS, WI (WSAU) — A Nekoosa man is accused of killing a 20-year-old woman this week.
Police say 43-year-old Paul M Carter was arrested for first-degree intentional homicide in connection with the death of Samantha Roberts.
The incident started with a call to the Nekoosa Police Department on January 17th about a 20-year-old woman who was unresponsive in the home. Officers attempted life-saving measures at the scene but were unsuccessful.
An autopsy showed Roberts died of severe head trauma.
Carter was arrested three days later. He appeared in Wood County court on Tuesday and is being held on $1 million bond.
Roberts was described as a paraplegic that was unable to speak. Police say Carter had been living in the home with Roberts for a short time, but the two were not related.
