WAUSAU, WI (WSAU) — An Eland man was pulled over on suspicion of his 5th OWI on Saturday.
State Patrol officers say Joshua James Bessert was pulled over on US 51 near Keller Drive in Marathon County for speeding. While interacting with Bessert, officers noticed signs of impairment and a field sobriety test was intitated.
The 44-year-old Bessert failed the test and was arrested for several charges including possession of THC, bail jumping, possession of drug paraphernalia, and 5th offense OWI.
Court records indicate Bessert’s previous OWI convictions date back to 2011. he also recently pled not guilty to three misdemeanor counts of theft of movable property worth more than $2,500 in Langlade County.
No court action relating to the new OWI charges from Saturday was immediately scheduled.
