MARYVALE, AZ (MetroSource-WSAU) — The Milwaukee Brewers are adding some infield depth.
The Athletic reports the Crew has agreed to a deal with former Red Sox utilityman Brock Holt. The 31-year-old has spent the last seven seasons with Boston. Holt hit .297 with three home runs in 87 games in 2019.
The Brewers will hold their first full-squad workout of spring training today. Position players had to report to camp in Maryvale, Arizona by yesterday. Pitchers and catchers arrived last week.
The Brew Crew begins exhibition play Saturday against the Rangers.
The team also says Ryan Braun expects to play a lot of first base this season. That’s because they added Avisail Garcia in the offseason to an outfield that already features Braun, Christian Yelich, Lorenzo Cain and Ben Gamel. The move could help keep Braun fresh.
