MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — The victim of a crash on US 51 Tuesday has been identified as a 67-year-old Tomahawk man.
Thomas Tompson was a passenger in a 2014 Chevy Silverado that rear-ended a snowplow working along the shoulder of the highway. He was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Merrill where he was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Silverado was identified as 26-year-old Keaton Thompson. He suffered non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Aspirus Hospital.
Jason Wichman of Gleason was driving the snowplow. He suffered non-life threatening injuries and was not hospitalized according to the highway patrol.
The crash report indicates that neither Thomas or Keaton Thompson were wearing seat belts at the time of the accident. Alcohol was not a factor.
