ANTIGO, WI (WSAU) — A building fire in Antigo caused travel headaches for those traveling on Highway 45 Monday afternoon.
According to officials, the fire damaged a joint insurance building and home. No one was hurt from the fire and several animals who were inside at the time escaped safely. Currently, there is no information about what may have caused the fire.
Wisconsin Department of Transporation officials said the fire occurred near the intersection of North Avenue and 45 in Antigo. Fire officials say they shut down the highway due to the location of the nearest fire hydrant.
Highway officials closed off both lanes of traffic on Highway 45 for several hours. The highway was re-opened just in time for evening commutes.
