ANTIGO, WI (WSAU) — Two bald eagles who were rescued after getting injured have died.
According to the Raptor Education Group, the two bald eagles who were shot in Central Wisconsin have both died of their injuries. One of the eagles died on February 20th while the second eagle passed away a few days ago.
Founder Marge Gibson said that the group was unable to stop the internal bleeding from the bullet wounds, which led to the death of the two birds. No other information has come out about the incident as federal authorities are currently investigating the shootings.
Several other incidents that involve harming birds are being investigated by authorities. A Canada goose is still in critical condition after someone hit the goose in the head and clipped its wing.
That is being investigated by the DNR along with the death of a trumpeter swan that was hit by a snowmobile in Portage county in early February.
