MARYVALE, AZ (WSAU) — On a day that saw the long-term contract extension of Christian Yelich officially announced, the Brewers played the San Francisco Giants to a 5-5 spring training tie.
Yelich said he was extremly happy to be staying in Milwaukee for the rest of his career. The nine-year, $215 million dollar contract has a solid no-trade clause and no opt-out clauses.
Yelich made his spring debut on Friday with an 0-3 performance as the DH. Keston Hiura hit his 3rd homer of the spring.
Josh Lindblom started and allowed three runs on three hits with five strikeouts in four innings. Phil Bickford stayed hot with another hitless inning with three K’s.
The Brewers are 7-4-2 and will play the Texas Rangers this afternoon.
