WAUSAU, WI (WSAU-WAOW) — The following is a list of events and gatherings that have been canceled or will be rescheduled in response to the COVID-19 outbreak:
- WIAA State Basketball Tournaments
- March 13/14/15: USA Curling College Championship
- March 14: Run to Remember in Weston
- March 14: Saint Patrick’s Day parade in Rhinelander
- March 14/15: Gymnastics Meet at Stevens Point Area YMCA
- March 15 – March 29: Wausau School District closed along with before and after school events, athletics, activities, clubs, and G2M classes.
- March 15 – April 10: D.C. Everest schools closed along with after-school events, activities, clubs, meetings, practices, performances and athletics.
- March 15 -Undertermined: Lakeland Union High School
- March 15 -Undertermined: Marshfield School District
- March 15 -Undertermined: Spencer School District closed, elearning begins March 17th
- March 15 -Undertermined: Wisconsin Rapids School District closed but buildings open March 16th and 17th for students and parents to pick up any materials or personal items
- March 19: Get Out And Vote Event With Tom Tiffany/Mike Pence
- March 23-29: Stevens Point Area School District classes canceled for students through 6th grade, 7-12 will have e-learning.
- May 9: Portage Co. Cultural Festival
- April 3rd: Portage County Taste of Wine and Cheese
- April 18th: Wisconsin Hunter Education Instructor Association (WHEIA) Conference in Rothschild, cancelled
- March 30-Undetermined: Face-to-face classes at UW-Stevens Point — campus events also canceled
- April 17-19: Trivia 51 in Stevens Point
- May 9: Portage Co. Cultural Festival
- Blood donation appointments, local community blood drives by Versiti Blood Centers
- Tricia Zunker, 7th Congressional District candidate, postpones public campaign events
- Effective immediately, the Marshfield School District has cancelled all non-essential activities during and after regular school hours through the end of Spring Break on April 3. Examples of these activities include but is not limited to student assemblies, dances, field trips, concerts, and banquets.
- Boys and Girls Club of Portage County: Closing their club from Monday, March 16th through Friday, March 27th
Several areas have also put visitor restrictions in place including:
- North Central Health Care
- Wisconsin prisons/jails
- Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin
- Marshfield Clinic
The Catholic Diocese of La Crosse has also lifted Sunday Mass obligations due to COVID-19. Those who can are encouraged to vies Mass from home, either through a local TV broadcast or the Diocese YouTube channel.
Earlier this week Governor Tony Evers called for all gatherings of 250 people or more to be canceled or postponed. Local health departments have since echoed those comments.
