Another movie supposedly set in Wisconsin hits the screens this week. It's a political comedy from Jon Stewart starring Steve Carell called Irresistible. It was actually filmed in Georgia but is set in a fictional Wisconsin town. Will they get it right? Does Hollywood ever get Wisconsin right? What movies can you remember that were set in Wisconsin?
Here are a few others…some you will recognize, some maybe not….
It was on this date in 1972 that a Rolling Stones concert in Fort Worth Texas was filmed. It became the 1974 movie, “Ladies & Gentlemen, The Rolling Stones”

Here's a wrinkle I hadn't heard before:
MLB has been talking with Nashville about having 2 teams there of unsigned players, sources say.
They would serve as an emergency pool and would make $400/week.
MLB teams would have to pay a fee to Nashville to sign one of those players.

Quotes Of The Day
“In 2016, Pres. Trump claimed voter fraud to explain his loss in the popular vote. It was a lie. Now, with horrible polling, he's trying to delegitimize the vote – through suppression and more lies about voting by mail. This is a big story. Put all his allies on the record.”-Dan Rather
“A rule of thumb: If you're lying about nonexistent voter fraud, if you're limiting polling places, if you're forcing people to line up to vote in a pandemic, even the old and the infirm, then it seems you're basically admitting most Americans don't want you to be president.”-Dan Rather
“It should be clear from MLB mess that business rules sports. And the Commissioner ideal of working for “the best interests of Baseball” is folly; he works for the owners. And the owners, losing out of massive revenues, want to dramatically cut their largest expense: player pay.”-Andrew Brandt
For students living away from home, Wisconsin is one of the hardest states to vote in. Student IDs issued by colleges and universities aren't sufficient, requiring students to go through additional hoops to cast a ballot, @wisconsinwatch reports.

“Multiple top Trump aides told investigators that Trump knew WikiLeaks had information stolen from his rivals. He knew the Russians were backing him, but instead of reporting it, he capitalized on it. Still likely the biggest betrayal of the country ever. “-Evan McMullin

“Day to day, I grapple with how to best hold @realDonaldTrump accountable. Do more? Do less? And each day I end up at the same conclusion: when it’s all said and done, our only regret will be we didn’t do enough to stop his corruption. Our democracy is worth redeeming.”-Rep Eric Swawell
“Sometimes I wish we knew what happened in Germany in the 1940's but they tore down all the statues so it is impossible.”-Jennifer Wright
“People underestimate the degree to which the most effective reelection strategy is governing well. Sometimes you can fake it. But not during a pandemic. And that's why Trump is 9 points behind Biden. He is failing at his job, and he can't tweet that away.”-Ezra Klein
“they don't love our country” is a codeword for Birthers, who love Turkey/Saudi Arabia/Russia and think white nationalists are “good people.”-Peter Gammons
“The silencing of the journalist’s phone line happened during a briefing highlighting the importance of a free press.”-Rachel Maddow

“The President votes by mail. The Vice President votes by mail. The Attorney General votes by mail. The Secretary of Education votes by mail. The President's campaign manager votes by mail. They’re lying to you because they’re scared of you.”-Rep Joe Kennedy III
“Let’s be clear, if Congress let’s Barr (and DC US Attorney Tim Shea) get away w/what AUSA Zelensky just revealed about them obstructing justice in the Stone case, it is a gut punch to EVERY DEFENDANT who is NOT connected or influential or powerful or wealthy or privileged!”-Glenn Kirshner
