MERRILL, WI (WSAU) — A vacant home was damaged Sunday due to a fire.
Fire crews were called to North Mill St just after 2 PM where a passerby had reported smoke coming from a home. Crews were able to fight the flames from the outside, then extinguished them from the inside.
It’s unclear how much damage was done to the structure. One firefighter was taken from the scene in an ambulance after having a medical issue. That individual was treated and released.
Firefighters believe the flames were sparked by an electrical issue in the home’s living room.
No other injuries were reported from the incident. Other responding agencies included Wisconsin Public Service, Tomahawk Fire Department, Merrill Police, and Pine River Fire Department.
