IRMA, WI (WSAU-WAOW) – Nearly 30 inmates at the Lincoln Hills youth prison in Irma were involved in a disturbance with guards on Saturday afternoon.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Department says several of the youth filled their socks with rocks and were making threats. Several buildings at the Lincoln Hill and Copper Lake campus were damaged.
It is unclear what led to the incident.
15 officers responded from the sheriff’s department, Merrill Police, and the Wisconsin State Patrol.
The incident was quickly contained, with most units clearing within an hour. There was an additional police presence until 8pm Saturday when additional officers from the Wisconsin Department of Corrections arrived.
One person was treated for cuts from broken glass.
