MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — The number of new coronavirus cases reported in Wisconsin Friday is just under 1,000.
The state Department of Health Services reported 989 new cases Friday, an increase from 839 new cases Thursday.
Officials reported 13,097 negative test results Friday, a decrease from 16,867 negative test results Thursday.
Friday’s 5.9% positive rate was above Thursday’s 4.7%.
The numbers came out ahead of the state calling a news conference Friday to talk about new data elements on the DHS COVID-19 website.
An additional 12 people have died from COVID-19, the DHS reported, with the total now at 990.
Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, there have been 1,033,716 people have been tested, with 58,768 positive cases and 974,948 negative test results.
The DHS considers 47,221 patients to have recovered from the new coronavirus with the number of active COVID-19 cases at 9,562 according to the DHS.
The DHS says Wisconsin hospitals are reporting that 2,564 beds are immediately available out of the 11,527 total beds.
There are 296 total COVID-19 patients seeking care with 101 in the ICU, three less ICU patients than what was reported Thursday.
There are 118 hospital patients are still waiting for COVID-19 test results.
The state has a supply of 1,998 ventilators with 354 in use.
DHS and the Wisconsin Hospitals Association caution that adjustments to hospital data are being made to meet changes recently mandated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
