MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK)– The Wisconsin Department of Health Services on Saturday is reporting 1,165 new cases of COVID-19, the most in a single day.
Saturday’s number of positive COVID-19 results breaks the previous record of 1,117 positive cases that was reported on Tuesday, July 21.
As the positive cases from Saturday were an increase from Friday, total test results are down.
On Saturday 13,162 results were gathered, while Friday had 14,086 results with 989 being positive.
Saturday’s test results brought an 8.9% positive rate, a jump from Friday’s 7%.
Six new COVID-19 deaths are being reported on Saturday, bringing the death toll in the state to 996.
Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, Wisconsin has had 1,046,878 people tested, 59,933 positive COVID-19 cases, and 986,945 negative test results.
The DHS is considering 49,283 patients to have recovered from COVID-19, 2,062 more than from Friday.
There are 9,636 active cases of the coronavirus, according to the DHS.
Wisconsin hospitals are reporting to the DHS that 2,236 hospital beds are immediately available out of the 11,518 total beds.
There is a total of 311 COVID-19 patients receiving hospital care with 96 in the ICU. The 311 total patients is 15 more than reported on Friday, and the 96 ICU patients is down from Friday’s 101 in the ICU.
The state has a supply of 1,985 ventilators with 348 in use.
DHS and the Wisconsin Hospitals Association caution that adjustments to hospital data are being made to meet changes recently mandated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
