MADISON, WI (WTAQ-WLUK) — After four straight days of relatively low coronavirus numbers, Wisconsin saw a spike in new cases on Thursday.
The state Department of Health Services reported 943 new positive tests, nearly double the 478 reported on Wednesday. It was the first day since Saturday that the number had been higher than the seven-day average, which moved to 775.
DHS reported 11,472 negative tests on Thursday. The 7.6% positive rate was up from Wednesday’s level and pushed the seven-day average to 6.9%.
Seven new deaths were reported on Thursday, with the total at 1,018.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 63,206 cases of coronavirus and 1,035,195 negative tests. DHS considers 53,239 people to have recovered.
